I’ve been wanting to try to make my own protein bars for quite some time now, and would you believe that my reason for finally doing it is that my husband requested them? It’s true! Ever since we got our home gym system, he’s been getting more serious about working out and eating healthy, which I LOVE.
So today, I made my own variation of a few different simple recipes I found. Here’s what I did:
2 cups oatmeal
1 box pudding mix (unprepared, regular or sugar free; I used chocolate, as my hubby specifically requested something peanut buttery and chocolatey!)
1/4 cup peanut butter (Mmmm…)
1 cup COLD milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl, then pour into an 8-inch square baking pan. This should make about eight bars. Mine are setting up in the fridge as we speak. I’m really excited to try them later, because when I took a little taste from the bowl they tasted just like no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies!! In a couple of hours I’m going to cut them up and freeze some of them in individual servings so we can easily grab them on the go or after a good workout!
