Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Bars!!

I’ve been wanting to try to make my own protein bars for quite some time now, and would you believe that my reason for finally doing it is that my husband requested them? It’s true! Ever since we got our home gym system, he’s been getting more serious about working out and eating healthy, which I LOVE.

So today, I made my own variation of a few different simple recipes I found. Here’s what I did:

2 cups oatmeal

6 scoops of protein powder (we just had vanilla but I think chocolate would be way better!)

1 box pudding mix (unprepared, regular or sugar free; I used chocolate, as my hubby specifically requested something peanut buttery and chocolatey!)

1/4 cup peanut butter (Mmmm…)

1 cup COLD milk

1/8 teaspoon salt

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl, then pour into an 8-inch square baking pan. This should make about eight bars. Mine are setting up in the fridge as we speak. I’m really excited to try them later, because when I took a little taste from the bowl they tasted just like no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies!! In a couple of hours I’m going to cut them up and freeze some of them in individual servings so we can easily grab them on the go or after a good workout!

Hope you get a chance to try them too!

Love, Hope, & Prayers,

Justine Duppong

  1. Have you ever experienced binging? I’m underweight and have been binging on terrible foods at night. I don’t exercise other than walk so I feel so ashamed. Also, I eat a lot of breads, muffins, carbs in addition to protein-fats. I don’t know how to stop the binging at night . I read an article that says you won’t fully recover until you go over 2500 (3000 for younger people)….but I feel so different, especially since I don’t exercise. Won’t I just gain all fat and all wrong this way?

    • Well, first off, you should talk to a dietitian who is knowledgeable about eating disorders, as well as a medical doctor who can make sure you’re healthy. Once you start eating healthily you will notice those cravings begin to go away–those cravings are the result of your body being malnourished right now. Your body and your appetite will regulate in time; as long as you are listening to your body you will not have to worry about gaining any “bad” weight. Your body has a set point that it will find once you start eating the way you’re supposed to be eating. You just have to trust it.

      • Do you eat a specific way? What exercise do you do daily? weekly workout log?

I see a doctor, i’m medically fine she says. i just need to gain. I can’t get control of the bingeing…chocolate and carby things way late at night….gosh, when i eat salmon i eat about 3 meals worth (10 oz in just one sitting)….when will it stop?
do i need to go way over a certain number of cals?
did you go big with cals?
i don’t even exercise, so ifeel ten times worse 😦

  2. My eating is all about balance. I eat all the healthy stuff, but I eat other things too. As far as working out, I prefer to lift weights because I like how strong it makes me feel. I don’t do a lot of cardio although I think it’s important to have a healthy balance of that as well.

Just listen to your dietitian in terms of eating. I really think once you start finding more balance, your appetite issues will improve. If you are restricting your food at times, you will find it harder for you to not feel out of control when you are eating. It’s all about learning to trust yourself and your body.

    • I don’t have a dietitian; cant afford one (and I’ve had a few over the years and not pleased with them at all…I’m 30 years old, i’ve been through this mill a few times).

What kind of meal plan did you follow then ? I assume u are specific about eats now regardless since u are in the weights-scene…but meal plans suggestions?

  4. Thanks…I just read it! But I still have so many questions…if you wouldn’t mind emailing me…that’d be great…i won’t take up your time (and i know u r not a licensed professional…so i take things at face value …just gathering extra bits of anything can help me find a way maybe.
